The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released an official statement in response to the findings of the Commission of Inquiry set up by the Anambra State Government to investigate the Ejikeme Mmesoma UTME result saga.
JAMB stated that the report vindicates the board, reaffirming that its system remains uncompromised. The board expressed regret that some Nigerians choose to cast doubt on its reputation and emphasized its commitment to providing credible and fair assessments. JAMB acknowledged the independent investigation’s findings that Mmesoma forged her score and recommended that she issue a written apology to JAMB, her school, and the Anambra State Government.
The board called for sustained support for national institutions and cautioned against attacking everything that makes the nation proud. JAMB emphasized its dedication to inclusiveness, fairness, and transparency in the admission process through the use of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
The board urged well-meaning Nigerians to verify claims made by candidates and warned candidates against fraudulent apps promising score enhancement. The Mmesoma case serves as a reminder that not everything goes in Nigeria and highlights the potential of the nation’s educational system. JAMB expressed gratitude to those who stood by the truth and extended appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its impartiality.
The board called for collective efforts to build a greater Nigeria and congratulated Miss Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere as the top scorer in the 2023 UTME exercise.
