Ayra Starr, the rising Afrobeats artist, shared her joy on Twitter after receiving her first Grammy nomination. The “Rush” singer’s nomination comes in the Best African Music Performance category, where she faces competition from fellow Nigerian artists Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide.
In a historic achievement, Ayra Starr becomes the first and youngest Nigerian female artist to be nominated in this category.
At 21 years old, she expressed her disbelief and gratitude at the incredible honor of being recognized for one of the most prestigious awards in the music industry.
She took to her X account to say;
“Ayra Grammy nominated Starr !!! It’s only you Jesus , only you !”
The award would be given in February 2024 at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards holding at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
